For a town that's only 12 miles long and 5 miles wide, Hilton Head does very well for news.

The Island Packet, only founded as recently as 1970, is a full color daily newspaper that covers the Island's news, and has an excellent Hilton Head real estate pull-out section on Sundays. If you're looking to buy in Hilton Head, this is a great place to start.

Also covering the area (with perhaps slightly more details for the off-island Lowcountry towns of Beaufort, Bluffton and Ridgeland) is the Carolina Morning News.
Absolutely indispensible for visitors and residents alike is Hilton Head Monthly magazine. A very professional publication that covers local happenings, businesses and lifestyles. Available at several local businesses, it is also delivered free to locals. If you wish to subscribe, you can here for just $30/year.

If you're just visiting the Island, WHHI-TV is for you. A true local station, with no network affiliation, the station provides great tips for tourists, where to eat, golf and so on. They even have a phone-in auction so you can get great discounts on local restaurants and activities.
