TripAdvisor, one of the largest travel websites, has released the results of their family beach survey, and Hilton Head is named among the top 10 beaches for family vacations. TripAdvisor asked 400 travelers with children age 18 or younger, and found that almost 80% are planning for beach vacation with the kids in the next 6 months.

Beaches were rated according to various children’s amenities, from sandcastle building contests to dolphin-watching, as well as things which make life easier for mom and dad, picnic tables, showers and bathrooms. In addition all of them have soft sand, without big waves, dangerous tides or freezing cold water!

Enjoy your cigars when visiting for Heritage, it’s the last year you’ll be able to. From May 1st, 2007 smoking will be banned at all indoor bars, restaurants and work places.

The controversial measure finally passed the town council last night, so Hilton Head joins Bluffton and many other parts of the county as a smoke free zone.

Many bars are anxious to see what kind of effect this will have on business, we’ll have to wait and see.
