Golf Tournament is Worth Big Bucks
The preliminary findings from a Clemson study show that the Heritage Tournament brings in $52 million in income and $84 million in sales for Beaufort County businesses.
The study found that 70.6 percent of tournament visitors are from outside Beaufort County, with most, 48.5 percent, attending the event at Harbour Town Golf Links for at least four days and staying on the island for eight days, two days longer than in 1999. A four-day tournament visitor spends $435 a day, the study found, up from $237 in 1999.
Additionally the event also brings in about $1.3 million in local and state taxes.
Thanks PGA Tour!
This is certainly great news for the area, even if it does make traffic around Sea Pines impossible for a few days each year.
