ResortQuest Buys Rental Companies in Hilton Head
ResortQuest, the vacation management company bought out by Gaylord Entertainment two years ago, has aquired EastWest Resorts, a Colorado-based company which owns two of the Hilton Head rental companies.
Oceanfront Rentals Co, and Sand Dollar Management, which were bought by East West Resorts in 2000, transfer to the new owners, as part of the $22million deal, as well as East West’ s other resorts in nearby island rentals in Kiawah, Seabrook and Isle of Palms.
ResortQuest bought local Shoreline Rentals and Worthy Rentals, three years ago, and by completing the move of Sand Dollar and Oceanfront Rental companies’ inventory, ResortQuest has become by far the largest rentals company on Hilton Head, with over 930 units, more than double the number of the nearest rival, Sea Pines Company.
How this will affect the local tourism trade will remain to be seen, but the fact that such a large company sees the value in the vacation rental market here bodes well for many owners, whether they are part of ResortQuest or not.
