Located a 90 minutes drive away from Hilton Head, Charleston, South Carolina is a truly historic Southern city, which holds a significant place in American History.
Having played a major role in both the Revolutionary War and the Civil War (or the War of Northern Aggression as some here will tell you!) Charleston has plenty of cultural sites that are a must for any visitor to the Lowcountry.

But it isn't all history. Charleston has a thriving music scene (something you may miss in Hilton Head) with numerous bars and clubs catering to a younger crowd.

And for those who find the pace of Downtown a little too much, the resort islands of Kiawah, Isle-of-Palms, Seabrook and Sullivan's Island will provide the change of pace you're looking for.

And if you've played all the courses in Hilton Head, why not take the golf bag on the road?! Kiawah has hosted two Golf World Cups, and there are many, amny more golf courses around Charleston.

If you are visiting Hilton Head with children, a day in Charleston may be just the thing. The new South Carolina Aquarium is located downtown and takes visitors on a trip from the springs of Upstate to the deep ocean. And, yes, there are sharks!
